The Environment

Today’s data centers are complex and operate with little human activity yet consumes nearly 3% of the world’s power production. As digital transformation increases, data center energy consumption will reach 8%, by one estimate. (1) Corporate data centers are expected to provide uninterrupted availability of a wide range of applications to a diverse set of endpoints, from on-premises servers with storage to potentially billions of globally distributed edge devices. As the demand for data center services increases, energy consumption grows as well. System performance, amount of storage, and connectivity needs of today’s servers have increased dramatically in recent years. The power requirements accompanying this rise in data centers’ growth and server requirements impact the environment and contribute to climate change.
We want to lead the industry in green Edge computing initiative by closely partnering with green computing vendors and focusing on products and solutions that have a positive impact on E-waste and carbon footprint. We also aim to recycle and reduce waste wherever possible to actively prevent our impact on waste and pollution. We strive to train our employees to improve their awareness of environmental matters as part of our Environmental Impact initiative.

Green Products

Managing the impact data center products and services on climate change is a central tenant of Equus Compute Go to Market strategy. IT customers are creating strategies to deal with the total impact to the environment, and according to one of our partner’s environmental surveys (2), power usage effectiveness or PUE – a ratio that describes how efficient an equipment uses energy- is one of their top their top concerns in choosing which products they want to deploy in their data centers. Since PUE is so critical to the total impact to our environment, the goal is to have a PUE of 1.0, which equates to using all the energy in a data center to power computer, storage, and networking infrastructure systems. A data center that is considered green would have a PUE of less than 1.25. The PUE mentioned most in the survey response was between 1.50 and 2.50, as this range was cited by 58% of respondents. Large enterprises most often (71%) had a PUE of greater than 1.50.

Environmental
Reducing electricity usage is not the only concerns to organization bottom line. We also believe that increasing the density of equipment power within a rack also increases the overall power effectiveness that will lead to greener data center. Equus Compute is committed to providing our customer energy efficient products and solutions that will lessen the impact to our environment. We carry a wide range of energy efficient data center products for the most demanding workloads that are readily deployed and upgraded to the latest technologies.
