What is OpenBMC?
The OpenBMC project is a Linux Foundation Collaborative open-source project whose goal is to produce an open source implementation of the Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC) firmware stack. IBM is contributing the initial code for OpenBMC and other organizations involved in this initiative are Google, Facebook, Intel, and Microsoft. This Linux distribution for BMCs is meant to work across heterogeneous systems that include enterprise, High-performance computing (HPC), Telecommunications, and cloud-scale data centers.

How does OpenBMC improve Security?
Security is a top concern for all IT Engineering and Operations staff.
You can now have control over your open-source BMC firmware stack and especially the access security into your servers.
OpenBMC also offers the potential for new configuration and monitoring capabilities.
