Equus Computer Systems ANNOUNCES NEW FIRST FULLY OPEN NOTEBOOK SOLUTIONS
Minneapolis, Minnesota—August 18, 2008–Equus Computer Systems, Inc. announced the launch of its open notebook product line called Nobilis MAX. These Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology-based mobile systems are built on the on Intel’s recent mobile platform previously codenamed ‘Montevina’ and a new mobile form factor specifications codenamed Rich Creek 2
“The introduction of the new Intel Mobile Boards is another significant effort in Intel’s common building block strategy,” said Joe Toste, VP Sales and Marketing Equus. “We introduced the first Intel mobile motherboard solution last year with a Far East ODM. The solutions sold well and there was strong interest for our resellers and ISVs for a more serviceable and customizable solution.”
“With freight costs increasing, the ability for our customers to service notebooks as part of our service network is a competitive advantage to multinational computer manufacturers. No longer will customers have to rely on 2 week turnaround times for repairs on standard warranties. Currently Equus averages less than 6 days from the time of a notebook ticket being issued. “We anticipate being able to reduce this by at least one day with the modularity and openness of these platforms.”
In addition to improved serviceability and support, the modularity of these systems will provide greater opportunity for more customization and personalization. As mobile computing rapidly replaces desktops in many environments, this is a perfect opportunity to offer more customized mobile solutions.
The Nobilis MAX product line supports Intel Centrino 2 processor technology and is based on the Intel MGM45WU mobile motherboard. The platforms include multiple features: Intel® Active Management Technology, Intel® Trusted Platform Module, Intel® Centrino® 2 with vPro™ technology, Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x, VT-d), Intel® Trusted Execution Technology, Intel® Matrix Storage Technology, and support for Intel® Turbo Memory 1.7.
It supports the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 45nm Hi-k processor or the Intel® Celeron® processors at 1066/800 MHz system bus and has the latest Intel® GM45 Express Chipset with ICH9M-Enhanced. It supports dual channel DDR2 800/667 MHz with 2 SO-DIMM sockets (4 GB max) for 256Mb, 512Mb, 1Gb and 2Gb densities. It also features 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiMAX connectivity options. These exciting products provide our customers with the most powerful and open mobile notebooks available. The new Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology-based platforms provide a rock solid base for the high demands of next generation computing,” said Joe Toste, VP Sales and Marketing Equus.
