March 30, 2009 - Nehalem Servers

Minneapolis, Minnesota—March 30, 2008– Equus Computer Systems, Inc. announced the launch of four new Nobilis Servers based on the new Intel® Xeon® Processor 5500 Series. These Nobilis systems are built on the on Intel’s new Xeon processors.

"The introduction of these Nobilis servers based on Intel® Xeon® Processor 5500 Series is one of the most exciting Equus Nobilis server product introductions in years." said Joe Toste, VP Sales and Marketing Equus. "As an Intel Local OEM server partner, Equus has successfully driven server refresh to its customers based on ROI of 1 ½ to 2 years . However, our recent financial calculation with customers is that they can expect an ROI payback of less than 1 year when deploying these Intel® Xeon® Processor 5500 Series based Nobilis servers. In addition to the increased productivity of this computing platform this financial model allows customers to bank the last 2 years of their depreciation schedule. This is very compelling."

"In addition to improved performance, the cost savings from better energy efficiency and reduced footprint are key benefits to our customers. Like our datacenter customers, Equus small and medium sized business customers are looking to increase their competitiveness and reduce their costs through these new solutions." said Toste. "Equus customers typically use applications that will benefit significantly from the increase in Intel® Xeon Processor Series 5500 performance from the Intel® QuickPath Interconnect, superior memory access due to integrated memory controllers and triple-channel DDR3 system memory, and Intel TurboBoost Technology," said Kirk Skaugen, vice president and general manager of Intel’s Server Platforms Group.

The four Nobilis servers include two entry and two midrange servers. The Nobilis i2004TR and i200iTR are entry pedestal/rack servers targeted for small to medium businesses. They include the Intel Xeon processors 5500 series as default processors. The Nobilis i2002TR and i2003R2 are midrange rack servers that are targeted for medium and datacenters customers. They include the Intel® Xeon® 5520 processor in the default configuration.
